What first sparked your love for DnB and how has it been navigating the scene as a DJ?

What’s been your favourite show to play, so far?

Who would be your dream b2b?

I’d love to go B2B with Lens. Her style and DJ skills are unmatched in my opinion! I also love Kara, so either of those two would be epic, to be honest!

Back in November you released ‘Lost In A Moment’, how was the process of creating the
single?
Ediz Kaizen, the producer on the track, randomly reached out to me on Instagram asking if I’d be interested in collabing on a track. He sent me some tunes that weren’t DnB at first, then he sent me this DnB beat titled ‘Lost In A Moment’ and asked if I could whip something up in two days as he had a deadline and wanted to send it to BBC Radio 1 Introducing for a mini-mix he was making.
Ediz is a great producer, and the track was put together in one night. I had most of the first verse already written in my notes—it was the first thing I opened as
had written it about a week or so before—and straight away, on the first beat, I found it flowed nicely with “When I was young.” I stuck with the storyline of growing up and being “Lost In The Moment”, but coming out better for it, the lyrics ‘Lost In A Moment’ just really fitted the lyrics I’d written and the rest of the song flowed out naturally. It felt like telling a story, and I could probably write another 4/5 verses to go with it. It’s nice working with an idea or a line—it helped my imagination and guided where the song was going.
It was played on BBC Radio 1 Introducing the week after we made it, and we re-recorded the vocals later in the year, adding some extra little bits like the violin-sounding humming at the outro of the track. The lyrics in the song have a lot of meaning for me, so I made a music video to help show the story and take us to some of my old stomping grounds around London; I wanted to help tell the story and make something that would like. The movie by Alex Miles really highlights that!
"If it isn’t inclusive,
it isn’t happening!
... There really is
no excuse for
not having an
inclusive event"
Are you hoping to release more music in the future?

Oh, definitely! I’m collaborating with some cool artists at the moment, but I’m also diving into my own production, which I can’t wait to share! It might be a while yet before my own production is out in the world, but I’ll have some collaborated tracks out sooner rather than later!
Moving onto TEEZ, how did the event first start and what’s your mission moving
forward?

I was in Australia at the time on my honeymoon for six weeks—it was me, my journal, and a mad idea to start a DnB event. I’d been hosting open mic events for a few years and had been working with a local pub for about a year at that point, and I just thought, “Why not bring a DnB event to Barnet?” I wanted to bring an event to my local area, as there has never been anything like that around there, despite a huge amount of DnB lovers living in the area! I wanted to bring DnB to my people, and it was one of the first-ever DnB events of its kind in the Barnet (if not the first ever). I wanted to give the local crowd a place to party to the music they love, give local artists an opportunity to play out, and create a lineup that was diverse and inclusive—because that’s how it’s meant to be!
My mission is to keep that going, but also explore different venues and local areas, collaborate with other like-minded brands, and create events that leave an everlasting impression because the vibes, music, and people are just too good! Safe events, inclusive & diverse line-ups, unique venues, with a mix of artists and brands paving the way for the underground—along with some bigger names to keep things exciting for myself and our TEEZ residents!
"Collaboration is everything for me currently. I really value connection..."
As both a DJ and promoter, how do you balance the creative side with the logistics of
running events?
It’s an everyday journey, to be honest. Some days my foot’s on the pedal and I can multitask and get loads done, and other days I can’t do anything. I think the balance of force and flow is super important! Journaling and lists are a massive part of my creative and promotional life, I’d be pretty lost without them! As soon as I start slacking on daily journaling, my head gets overcrowded, and I can’t do much. I really have to get pen to paper, make lists, read them, and use the energy when I have it to complete tasks. Journaling also helps with my creativity. I also use the train and travelling to get work done, experimenting with blends and listening to tunes on Rekordbox.
I write a lot of notes on my phone or journal lyrics and record myself singing melodies so I can come back to them later. Creativity can spark anywhere, anytime—so if I ride the wave of my creative flow when it hits, I don’t feel like I’m missing out, because I know I can return to it later. I would like to carve out more time for production and bringing my own tunes to life, but I’m getting there, slowly but surely. Collaboration is everything for me currently. I really value connection in collaboration, so I’m excited to see what’s to come, working with some other cool brands and artists!
TEEZ has a strong community feel - how important is it to you to create inclusive spaces
in the DnB scene?

It’s everything to me! If it isn’t inclusive, it isn’t happening! It’s one of my deepest desires for the brand—to make inclusivity the norm. There really is no excuse for not having an inclusive event. It’s a choice—you either make it so, or you choose not to.
What’s been your most memorable event with TEEZ, so far?
I think it’s got to be between the first Barnet event, as that one hit different, or the most recent
event at Signature Brew – both venues push boundaries of events and are unique and creative
spaces, fun for the artists as well as the ravers! I’d re-live those events again and again!
Could you give us a couple of upcoming DJs, artists or producers you would
recommend?

What do you have coming up for rest of the year?

I really want to focus on improving my production skills and create some more tunes and I'm in
the process of getting a mentor to help with this, so be great to see where this will take me into
the year, could maybe even start releasing some tracks towards the end of 2025 who knows!
I’m now on Life.FM radio every second Monday of the month and am using this to get creative
with my mixing, experimenting with different sub genres, and also find more confidence in
hosting my own show. TEEZ will also keep gently flowing out events through the year too. I
think they’ll be a couple more events this year, at least! The next one is 1 Year of TEEZ ‘The
Takeovers’ – which is at Planet Wax in New Cross on Friday 30th May (I can’t actually believe
we’ve been going for a year already!), then we are having a mini break with our own events until
October - they’ll be some TEEZ takeovers happening though over the summer, they're not announced
yet, but I’m still super excited for them as it’s with some other underground brands that I love
and want to connect more with!
I will also be performing across a few festivals with Break The Code collective, with the first one being Shindig this weekend, Saturday 24th May. It’s a busy summer, but I’m just so grateful I get to do this, I love it and can’t see me slowing up any time soon!
