What first sparked your love for DJing and what’s been the story, so far?

I first discovered Drum and Bass around 2010 when my brothers introduced me to Neurofunk and Jungle. Back then, I mainly listened to Liquid Drum and Bass artists like Alix Perez, Zero T, and Calibre. In 2015, I began collecting vinyl and got my first set of turntables. That was when my passion for DJing really took off, fuelled by my love of playing and collecting vinyl. In 2019, I played on CDJs for the first time and had my debut gig. Not long after, I got into music production and released my first EP that same year.

You also produce, how did you find the transition from DJing and what do you love about producing your own music?

In the beginning, learning everything and getting familiar with the DAW was challenging. Producing music felt very different from DJing, but over time, I got used to it. What I love most about music production is that there’s no right or wrong, while there are technical aspects to consider, the main goal is to enjoy the process and bring your ideas to life. For me, the best part is transforming a feeling into the music I create.

You released a joint EP ‘Renege’ with M:Pathy earlier this year, what inspired the sound you went for on the project?

M:Pathy and I spent over a year working on this EP, we both tried to put our love for deep, dark sounds into this project. We had a lot of fun blending our styles and creating something that truly represents both of us.

You also released ‘Through Your Love’ in April, taking on a more liquid sound - what was the process of creating that track and how does producing give you the freedom to explore contrasting sounds?

James from Yamatai reached out to see if I’d like to release some music on their upcoming Genesis VA, and I was so hyped by their support. Working on “Through Your Love” was a personal challenge for me, as a perfectionist, it took many versions before I felt ready to send it. But when I finally did, they absolutely loved it, which made me incredibly happy. It’s still one of my favorite tracks I’ve produced so far.

You recently played Fabric with Critical Music, how was it to play such an iconic venue?

Playing at Fabric was an absolute dream come true. I had an amazing time, got to meet the entire Critical family, and was joined by my wonderful friend Sydney Bryce on the mic during my set. It was definitely a experience I will never forget.

How has it been this year as an EQ50 mentee with Critical Music and how has it aided your musical growth?

It’s been incredible so far! I’ve already had some great production lessons with SMG and Visla, played at Fabric, and attended inspiring masterclasses with the EQ50 crew. I’ve learned so much that I can apply to my own production. It’s been an amazing experience that’s really helping me get closer to where I want to be.

"Inclusivity ensures everyone feels valued, which strengthens the entire community."

What’s been your favourite mix from Sunday Sessions and what sparked the idea to start the series?

Back in 2020, my good friend Aras and I recorded a mix just for fun, and we enjoyed it so much that we decided to turn it into a monthly series, inviting guest artists to join us along the way. My favourites are definitely the ones from Workforce & Zero T

You started your collective Ami|Kal with Aras, Jalen Mess and Sarah Allen back in 2021, how did the idea to join forces come about?

We launched the collective in 2021, beginning around the same time with a shared vision of bringing greater diversity and visibility to the scene. Originally we were focused only on drum and bass, we’ve since expanded into a multi-genre collective.

How important is it for you to contribute to bringing more visibility and inclusivity into the scene?

It’s very important to me to contribute to visibility and inclusivity because diverse voices make the scene more creative, and more welcoming. Inclusivity ensures everyone feels valued, which strengthens the entire community.

Being based in Vienna, how is the DnB scene there and are there any local DJs/Artists you would recommend?

The scene here is thriving, with so many talented producers and DJs. We have club nights for a variety of subgenres, so there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Some standout names are definitely Wingz, En:vy, Azura, M:Pathy, Aras, Jalen Mass, Sarah Allen just to name a few.

What’s been your favourite country to play in, so far?

Definitely the UK, Spain, and Sweden. I had some of my best gigs and experiences there.

The people genuinely appreciate the sound and musical culture.

With the year coming to a close, what do you have coming up in 2025?

Right now, my main focus is all about the mentorship and music production. I’m working on a few collaborations with some incredibly talented people and looking forward to seeing what comes next.
