What sparked your passion for DJing, and how did you find your way into the scene?

I’ve been attending DJ sets, shows and raves since my early teenage years either in person or watching sets on youtube! I always admired what they were doing and as soon as I could afford my own set of decks I brought them and started to teach myself to DJ. From going out to music events and networking, I met a lot of amazing DJ’s who gave me advice and lessons and inspired that passion and determination even further.
How would you describe your musical style, and how has it evolved over time?

What track has been a go to lately in your sets?
'Heads Will Roll' will ALWAYS be famous in a DJ BUNNY set. I actively look for different styles of remixes of this song to blend into sets. It's truly timeless.
Out of all the sets you’ve played, which one stands out as your favorite and why?
I spent last year touring with Charlotte Plank, we got to play shows like Glastonbury and Eden, Ibiza which have the most special place in my heart but more recently we played Pitchfork Festival in Paris where we played around with a lot more sounds and mixes between her tracks which was super fun to do!

"keep pushing, sharing and platforming more diverse artists too if you have a platform to!"
What makes a perfect set for you, and how do you connect with the crowd?

A perfect set = less of people having a natter whilst the dj is playing, go to the smoking area if you need to have a debrief!! The best way to connect with the crowd is for sure to read the room and maybe throw in something out of the planned set if the crowd isn't vibing as much as you think, a crowdpleaser or something current to get the energy up.
What does an inclusive music scene look like to you, and what steps do you think need to be
taken to achieve it?

The classic of more women+ on the lineups! 50/50 splits or less men heavy please - and not just cis women, bookers please don't forget trans women and Non Binary people! I think creating these conversations online or with your promoter friends / bookers and events people to remind them to create more inclusive lineups, keep pushing, sharing and platforming more diverse artists too if you have a platform to! Get the word out and get them seen! This also works for platforming smaller artists who deserve recognition too, this also counts to me as being inclusive and not always booking the same big dogs, a lot of event attenders enjoy fresh new talent!
Is there anyone that you would shout out for doing amazing work in making the scene more welcoming and diverse?
@notbadforagirl does amazing work for women+ in the music scene! I attended their networking mixer / open decks the other day and had so much fun connecting with likeminded people. The team behind it are super cool and have a big passion for changing gender discrimination in the scene. You guys are also killing it with the inclusive label! It’s so amazing to see these more diverse labels and platforms in a cis man’s industry creating such an important space, I love what you're doing! Lastly, I want to give a shoutout to Shogun Sessions. It's a free DnB event every month and they always book and platform smaller DJs. It's super great and inclusive. A lot of people attend sober too. It's such a refreshing, enjoyable event with less pressure on the negatives of raving and more about community and uplifting people.

What inspired you to start @womenofthescene and what impact have you seen from it so far?

It comes from a place of passion, I’ve always mainly loved Female+ DJs and artists and feel like the lack of representation still to this day needs some change! There aren't many tastemaker accounts that just platform women and I felt as if it would be great to start one! It wasn't super hard for me to do this as I already follow tons of amazing artists across platforms to post so I just keep an eye on what's new and what I’m loving. I get a lot of amazing messages saying how needed and refreshing this account is across platforms as well as requests to share videos and music, I just love bringing joy to people and platforming talent!
"Surround yourself with a network that comforts and reflects you / the change you want to see in the music industry".
What words of wisdom would you share with aspiring DJs, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds?

Keep doing what you're doing, don’t listen to negative comments especially if it comes from a man, block it out and surround yourself with a network that comforts and reflects you / the change you want to see in the music industry. Look for communities such as meetups, open decks, online group chats and events that honor your background and vibes! I just started doing these things the past year and community is everything to your journey.
What’s coming for the rest of the year?

I’m going to keep working on and developing @Womenofthescene, I really want to make it more than a social media page so watch this space! I’m excited to see how my DJing develops this year. I'm playing Grassroots festival Gemfest and I’m really excited to meet all the smaller DJ’s performing who I only know as online friends at the moment!
